How it’s private

Your files never leave your device

Most free PDF sites upload your documents to their servers, process them there and promise to delete them later. Plainpage does all the work in your own browser instead, using the same kind of technology that runs web apps like Google Docs. There’s simply no upload.

  1. You choose a file

Your browser opens it from your device. It isn’t sent anywhere.

  2. Your device does the work

Plainpage’s code runs locally, on your own processor.

  3. You save the result

The new file goes straight from your browser to your downloads.

Try it yourself. Open any tool, then switch off your Wi-Fi or mobile data. Everything keeps working, because there’s no server involved. That’s also why it works on a plane.

Why Plainpage

Built to fix what people dislike about free PDF tools

Before building Plainpage, we read what people complain about in free PDF services: caps on downloads, features locked behind paid plans, files uploaded to servers, ads, and trials that renew into subscriptions. Then we made sure none of it applies here.

Questions

Is Plainpage really free?

Yes. Every tool is free with no limits, trials or paid upgrades. There are no ads either. It’s built and paid for by Nova Site, a web design studio in Pretoria, as a free public tool and an example of the work we do.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Plainpage runs entirely in your web browser. Your files are opened, changed and saved on your own device, and never sent to us or anyone else.

How can I check that nothing is uploaded?

Open any tool, then switch off your Wi-Fi or mobile data. The tools keep working, because there’s no server involved. You can also watch the Network tab in your browser’s developer tools while a tool runs.

Is there a file size or page limit?

Only your device’s memory. Large documents work fine on modern laptops and phones. Very big files (hundreds of megabytes) may be slow on older devices.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Plainpage works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS. You can add it to your home screen like an app.

Can it convert Word, Excel or PowerPoint to PDF?

Not yet. Doing that well needs office software on a server, which would mean uploading your file. Plainpage only offers tools it can do properly on your device. Tip: Word, Google Docs and LibreOffice can all save as PDF directly.
